Taking Communications Technology at Nelson High School was a crucial step in shaping my path toward a full-time career as a video producer. The program gave me early, hands-on experience with video equipment, editing software, and storytelling techniques, helping me build both technical skills and creative confidence. I learned how to plan, shoot, and edit projects from start to finish, and I quickly realized how much I loved bringing stories to life through video. It also introduced me to the collaborative nature of production work, where teamwork and communication were just as important as creativity. Thanks to the support and mentorship of the amazing faculty, I was taught that video production wasn't just a hobby, but something I could turn into a meaningful, long-term career. Their encouragement pushed me to challenge myself creatively and take pride in the work that I produced. Being part of that class gave me a clear direction for my future and motivated me to keep developing my skills beyond high school. Looking back, I can confidently say that Communications Technology at Nelson High School was the foundation for a career I am passionate about.
